Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) WARNING Advisory

Lahontan State Recreation Area (Updated: November 2, 2026)

Lahontan Reservoir, located in Lahontan State Recreation Area, has been downgraded to a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) WARNING Advisory. Visual and satellite imagery assessments have indicated a continued presence of Cyanobacteria. Water tests conducted by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), have shown a decrease in cyantoxins from the DANGER advisory. These toxic algae can cause serious health issues for humans and animals.
