Park Winterization in Effect Oct. - April

Due to freezing temperatures during the winter months, parks generally shut off running water, which may include campground utilities. Pit style toilets are always open and available throughout the parks. Winterization typically occurs Mid Oct. - Mid April. It is encouraged to contact the park before arriving.

Parks Currently under winterization:

Beaver Dam State Park

  • Access to Beaver Dam State Park during winter months can limited or impassible due to adverse weather and road conditions. 
  • Both Campgrounds water source off. Water available at the fee station.

Echo Canyon State Park

  • Water shut off at each site in the RV Campground. Bathrooms and showers still available.
  • Group use bathroom closed.

Kershaw-Ryan State Park

  • Wading pool drained.
  • Day-Use water source turned off.
  • Showers, bathrooms, and frost free spigots in the campground remain open and available

Lahontan State Recreation Area

  • Flush restroom and shower buildings closed for the winter.

Washoe Lake State Park

  • Campground Loop A remains open year-round. Loop B will be closed for the season beginning November 1, 2025.
