Washoe Lake State Park

Star Party: The Northern Nevada Astronomy Group will set up telescopes for viewing stars, planets, and other wonders of the night sky.

Date: Saturday, August 15, 2026
Time: 8 p.m.-10 p.m.
Location: Washoe Lake State Park Maze Parking Lot

Need to Know:

  • Pets allowed (must be on a 6 foot leash)
  • Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
  • Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. Check the website for updates before you head out.
  • Meet at the Maze parking lot. Additional parking is available at the boat ramp

What to Bring

  • Water
  • Red light flashlight (does not affect night vision)
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Lawn chair or folding chair

What to Expect

  • Outdoor environment with opportunities for questions and discussion
  • A short, interactive astronomy presentation while the sun sets
  • A variety of telescopes set up for viewing stars and planets

Fees & Registration

  • No program fee
  • Park entrance fee: $5 per vehicle for Nevada residents, $10 out of state
  • No registration necessary, drop-ins welcome
