Las Vegas Astronomical Society Fall Star Party at Cathedral Gorge on September 23 and 24, 2022

Experience some of the darkest night skies in Nevada. Bring your family and join the Las Vegas Astronomical Society for an evening of star gazing with their exceptional telescopes and knowledgeable guidance.

This event will be held after dark in the campground group use area. Warm clothes are highly recommended. Also, red light flashlights or headlamps are preferred as they help keep our eyes adjusted to the dark and makes for better viewing for all.

WHEN: Friday and Saturday September 23 and 24, 2022 when the sun goes down

WHERE: Cathedral Gorge State Park

  • 2-1/2 hours Northeast of Las Vegas: I-15 N to US-93 N to Panaca, NV
    Head north on I-15 out of Las Vegas. Turn onto US-93 north at Apex following the Caliente/Pioche/Ely sign. Continue north on US-93 to the town of Panaca, Nevada. Follow the signs to Cathedral Gorge State Park.
  • 1-1/2 hours Southeast of Ely: US-93 S to Panaca, NV
    Head south on US-93 toward Pioche, Nevada. Continue south on US-93 past the town of Pioche toward the town of Panaca, Nevada. Cathedral Gorge State Park entrance is 10 miles south of Pioche on the right.
  • 1 hours West of Cedar City, Utah:West on 200N to UT-56W to NV-319 W to US-93 S to Panaca, NV
    Turn left onto W 200 N.  Continue onto UT-56 W/W 400 N.  Continue to follow UT-56 W Entering Nevada.  Continue onto NV-319 W. Turn right onto US-93 N and continue north one (1) mile.  Turn left into Cathedral Gorge State Park.
  • 1 hours Northwest of St. George, Utah: S 700 E to UT-18 N to UT-56W to Panaca, NV.
    Follow UT-18 north to UT-56 west. Continue onto NV-319 W. Turn right onto US-93 N and continue north one (1) mile.  Turn left into Cathedral Gorge State Park.

COST:  Entry to Cathedral Gorge State Park is $5.00 per vehicle for Nevada residents and $10.00 per vehicle for out-of-state visitors; camping fees apply for those staying in the campground. There is no additional fee for the event.
