Sand Dunes Hike
Join park staff on a guided hike through the sand dunes that line the east side of Washoe Lake. Discover the three basic components required for sand dune formation, along with some of the plants and animals that thrive in this type of desert environment.

Time: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Location: Washoe Lake State Park Equestrian Area
Need to Know:
- Pets allowed (must be on a 6 foot leash)
- Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
- Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. Check the website for updates before you head out.
- Meet at the west side of the Equestrian Area inside Washoe Lake State Park

- Hat and sun protection
- Comfortable hiking shoes
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Camera and binoculars
What to Expect
- Guided hike through the sand dunes
- Easy pace through loose sand and uneven terrain, with little elevation gain
- Educational ranger-led experience
Fees & Registration
- No program fee
- Park entrance fee: $5 per vehicle for Nevada residents, $10 out of state
- No registration necessary
