Night Hike

Date

Saturday, May 24th, 2025 – Saturday, May 24th, 2025

Time

8:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Learn about some of Washoe Lake’s nocturnal wildlife during a ranger-led night hike along the South Loop Equestrian Trail. We will be hiking through a flat area of the park that will give us wide open views of the night sky. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash at all times. This is an easy 2.5-mile loop but we will be hiking through areas of loose sand. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and dress in layers for the weather. Red flashlights do not negatively impact night vision. We will have some available to borrow and we will have red plastic available to convert regular flashlights to red lights.

WHEN: Saturday, May 24, 2024, from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

WHERE: Meet at the Equestrian Area inside Washoe Lake State Park. 4855 Eastlake Blvd., Washoe Valley, NV 89704. Take Exit 10 from I-580 and drive north on Eastlake Blvd., approximately four miles. The park entrance is on the left. Turn right past the fee booth, pass the campground, and follow the short gravel road to the Equestrian Pavilion.

COST: No additional fee is required beyond the standard park entrance fees: $5 for Nevada residents and $10 for non-residents.
