June Events
June events at Washoe Lake State Park include a guided hike, a bird watching program, a full moon hike, and a fish printing program. Participants should wear comfortable hiking shoes, binoculars, water, sun protection, insect repellant, and dress for the weather. Reservations are required for the full moon hike. The park entrance fee is $5 per vehicle for Nevada residents and $10 per vehicle for non-residents. There is no additional fee for these programs. We will follow social distancing guidelines during these events.
Sunday, June 6: Guided Hike
Join park staff for a guided hike to the gazebo on the Deadman’s Creek Trail. This hike is 1.5 miles round-trip, with an elevation gain of 380 feet.
WHEN: Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: 4855 Eastlake Blvd (Take the Eastlake Blvd Exit #10 from I-580.). Meet at the Maze parking lot. After paying the fee at the entrance to the park, turn left and it’s the first parking lot on the right.
WHO: This event is open to the public and is hosted by Washoe Lake State Park.
Sunday, June 13: Basic Bird Watching
Join park staff for a bird watching program at the Washoe Lake Wetlands. Participants should bring binoculars, a camera, sun protection, and insect repellant. The park has a limited supply of binoculars and bird guides to borrow.
WHEN: Sunday, June 13, 2021, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
WHERE: The Washoe Lake Wetlands are located on the south end of Washoe Valley. Take Exit 10 from I-580 and drive north approximately two miles on Eastlake Blvd. The Wetlands parking lot is on the left.
WHO: This event is open to the public and is hosted by Washoe Lake State Park.
Wednesday, June 23: Full Moon Hike--Reservations Required
Reservations are required for this event and can be made by calling (775) 687-4319 or e-mailing wlsp@parks.nv.gov. This is a 2.5-mile, round-trip hike using the South Loop Equestrian Trail. The trail is flat but there are areas with loose sand.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 23, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
WHERE: 4855 Eastlake Blvd, Washoe Valley, NV 89704. Take Exit 10 from I-580 and drive north on Eastlake Blvd. approximately four miles. The park entrance is on the left. Turn right after using the self-pay station, pass the campground, and follow the short gravel road to the Equestrian Pavilion.

Saturday, June 26: Fish Printing
Join park staff for a program featuring Gyotaku, or the Japanese art of fish printing. We will supply the fish replicas, paint, rice paper, and brushes. Meet in the Maze parking lot. Please be aware that the paint may stain clothing. Participants are welcome to stop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to make their fish print.
