First Day Hikes 2026: Spring Mountain Ranch

Event Description

Ring in the New Year with a First Day Hike at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. This national program takes place every January 1 and encourages people to start the year with outdoor exploration, healthy activity, and time in nature.

Join a docent for a relaxing 1.2 mile round trip hike where the history and current status of the endangered Pahrump Poolfish will be discussed.  At the end of the hike we will tour the historic cabin (2nd oldest building in Southern Nevada) and blacksmith shop, and have a special tour of the Ranch House.  Hike will begin from the bench just above the main parking area (where white fence and road going to the ranch house begins)

Join a docent for a relaxing 0.8 mile round trip hike where the history of Spring Mountain Ranch and how it connects to the development of the Las Vegas valley.    The hike begins with a tour  of the historic cabin (2nd oldest building in Southern Nevada) and blacksmith shop.  At the end of the hike a special tour of the Ranch House will be offered. Hike will begin from the bench just above the main parking area (where white fence and road going to the ranch house begins). 

These guided hikes showcase the scenic beauty and ranching history of the park.
