Basic Birdwatching

Did you know that Washoe Valley is one of Nevada’s 42 Important Bird Areas? Join park staff for a birdwatching walk through the park’s Day Use Area!

Need to Know

• Pets allowed (must be on a 6 foot leash)
• Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
• Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. Check the website for updates before you head out.
• Meet at the Boat Ramp parking lot.

What to Bring

• A camera and binoculars
• Hat, sun protection, and water
• Weather-appropriate clothing

What to Expect

• The park has a limited number of binoculars and bird guides available to borrow
• Viewing a variety of perching birds, water/shore birds, and birds of prey
• Outdoor setting with opportunities for questions and discussion
• Educational, ranger-led experience
