**Read all details before e-mailing to reserve your spot(s).**
Be sure to specify which date you are signing up for when reserving your spot(s). We are leading this guided hike on TWO separate days: Friday, 11/13 and Saturday, 11/14.
-
This is a 3.5 mile hike with 800ft of gain. After a steep scramble up onto a mesa in the north end of the park, we'll zig-zag down through increasingly narrow canyons until we reach the drop-slot. Venturing further requires hikers to press their bodies against the walls of the canyon and "drop" down in a controlled slide about 5-10ft. Those who continue are rewarded with beautiful views of multi-colored sandstone pinnacles before a long, sandy trek back to the trailhead.
Need to Know
- Approximate actual distances are given, but the nature of off-trail hiking in Valley of Fire means that the perceived distance is about twice the actual distance (i.e. a 3.5 mile hike ‘feels like’ a 7 mile hike.)
- This off-trail hike is for experienced hikers ONLY.
- Participants must be at least 10 years of age. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Pets are not permitted on these hikes.
What to Expect
- A guided off-trail hike through sandy washes and over/through rocky sandstone formations.
- Rough, sandy terrain and little to no shade.
- A confirmation with more detailed information will be sent after registration is confirmed.
