Cave Creek Reservoir Officially Reaches Full Capacity – Grand Reopening Event Announced
ELY, Nev. – The Nevada Division of State Parks and the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) are pleased to announce that Cave Creek Reservoir at Cave Lake State Park has officially reached full capacity following the completion of the Cave Creek Dam project. The reservoir is now spilling over into the newly constructed dam spillway as expected, and all systems are functioning correctly. Additionally, NDOW is actively working to rebuild and enhance the fishery by stocking 17,000 fish throughout the spring—an important step in ensuring a thriving and sustainable resource for anglers.
Now that the reservoir has been fully restored and efforts to enhance the fishery are underway, visitors can once again enjoy the scenic beauty and recreational opportunities that Cave Lake State Park has to offer. However, we urge the public to exercise caution while recreating in the lake, as there is expected to be a significant number of debris from vegetation that grew in the dry lakebed during the reconstruction period.
To celebrate this exciting milestone, Nevada State Parks, in cooperation with the Nevada Department of Wildlife and White Pine County, is hosting Rediscover Cave Lake, a grand reopening event on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event will feature a full day of outdoor activities, entertainment, and family-friendly fun. Additional event details will be announced soon.
For those interested in participating, applications for vendors, sponsors, and volunteers are being accepted. The vendor application deadline is May 7, 2025. The event packet and vendor application can be found online at parks.nv.gov/events.
We invite the community to join us in celebrating the return of Cave Lake and look forward to welcoming visitors back to this beloved Nevada treasure.
