Boat Launch Closure at Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area for Lagoon Dredging Project
Boat Launch Closure at Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area for Lagoon Dredging Project
LAUGHLIN, Nev. — The boat launch at Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area will be temporarily closed beginning April 6, 2026 to allow for dredging operations in the park’s lagoon. The project will remove accumulated sediment and restore boating access for visitors.
The dredging process is expected to take no more than 30 days, though work may be completed sooner depending on conditions.
For visitor safety, the boat launch parking lot will be closed for the duration of the project due to the presence of heavy equipment and active work zones.
The park’s North Beach will remain open and accessible throughout the project, allowing visitors to continue enjoying shoreline recreation.
Boaters needing river access during the closure are encouraged to use the nearby Fisherman's Access Boat Launch, located at 1450 S Casino Dr, Laughlin, NV 89029, which provides direct access to the Colorado River.
Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and asked to avoid all active work areas.
