Upcoming Maintenance Closures at Spring Mountain Ranch and Valley of Fire State Parks
Spring Mountain Ranch State Park and Valley of Fire State Park will temporarily close to the public this fall to allow staff to complete essential maintenance and park improvement projects.
Spring Mountain Ranch State Park will close Monday, November 2, through Sunday, November 8, 2026. The park will reopen for normal operations on Monday, November 9.
The weeklong closure will give staff dedicated time to address needed repairs and improvements throughout the park. Planned work includes painting, road maintenance, lawn and pasture care, and detailed cleaning to maintain the park’s facilities and grounds for future visitors.
Valley of Fire State Park will observe its annual maintenance closure Tuesday, December 1, through Monday, December 14, 2026. The park will reopen for normal operations on Tuesday, December 15.
The annual closure allows staff to focus on critical maintenance and park upkeep. High visitation, ongoing staffing shortages and extreme summer temperatures make it challenging to balance maintenance, emergency response, and visitor services during the busy season.
During both closures, the parks will be closed to all public visitation, including visitors entering on foot. All commercial activities, including weddings, photo shoots, and guided tours, will be prohibited. At Valley of Fire, camping reservations will not be available.
Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and consider visiting other Nevada State Parks during these temporary closures.
