Regional Junior Ranger Day 2026

Join Nevada State Parks and park agencies from across northern Nevada for the 6th Annual Regional Junior Ranger Day! This free, family-friendly event celebrates parks, outdoor recreation, and the next generation of Junior Rangers. Kids can complete activities at each agency booth to earn their Junior Ranger passport before participating in a special Junior Ranger swearing-in ceremony. Enjoy live music, food vendors, interactive exhibits, a helicopter landing, and even a dunk tank for an unforgettable day of fun!

Need to Know

  • This is a free, drop-in event open to visitors of all ages.
  • All Junior Rangers will receive a passport and should visit each participating agency's booth before the Junior Ranger swearing-in ceremony.
  • Dress to get wet if you plan to participate in the dunk tank and bring your own towel.
  • Dunk tank participants must meet the posted height requirement.
  • All dunk tank participants must check in with a Carson City Park Ranger to complete a waiver. A parent or guardian must sign the waiver for minors.
  • Program is weather dependent and may be modified or canceled without notice.

What to Bring

  • Water
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Sunscreen and a hat
  • Towel and a change of clothes if participating in the dunk tank

What to Expect

  • Complete Junior Ranger activities hosted by Nevada State Parks, Reno Parks, Washoe County Parks, and Carson City Parks.
  • Receive a Junior Ranger passport and earn stamps at each participating agency booth.
  • Participate in the official Junior Ranger swearing-in ceremony.
  • Watch a helicopter landing demonstration.
  • Enjoy live instrumental rock and surf music by The Sun Rays.
  • Food and refreshments will be available for purchase from Lady Griller and La Tapatia, featuring homemade ice cream, popsicles, and seasonal beverages.
  • Family-friendly outdoor activities throughout the day.

  • This event is free to attend.
  • No registration is required.
  • Drop-in participation is welcome.
