Portico Profiles: Pony Express

Fort Churchill State Historic Park

Join Park Interpreter, Kristin Sanderson, under the museum portico for a closer look at specific aspects of Fort Churchill’s history. Program topics change monthly.

The Pony Express was the United States’ first cross-country mail delivery service. Riders carried mail both to and from the soldiers at Fort Churchill who were responsible for guarding the Pony Express route through the region.

WHEN: Saturday, April 27, 2024, 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

WHERE: Meet at the Fort Churchill Museum. Fort Churchill is located 8 miles south of the Highway 95A/Highway 50 intersection on Highway 95A at 10000 Highway 95A, Silver Springs, NV 89429.

WHO: The program is open to the public and hosted by Fort Churchill State Historic Park.

COST: Park entrance fees apply, $5.00 per vehicle ($10.00 for non-Nevada vehicles). There is no additional cost to participate in the program.
