Off-Trail Guided Hike
Get out of the stores this Black Friday, and out into nature. Join a ranger and some experienced off-trail hikers for a 3.8-mile, strenuous off-trail hike. Most off-trail hikes in Valley of Fire feel a lot longer than they are, so please be prepared as if hiking one and one-half times that distance over rough terrain.
This hike will pass over rough sandstone rock, as we head north from the parking area, then travel east to a spot that requires some agility and a bum-slide. From there, we will walk through a narrow canyon, then hike for a while along the sandy Fire Canyon Wash. Please be advised that walking across sand can be exhausting. Hiking up a narrow rock wash will take us to a climb where we will stop for a snack break. After our break, rolling, rocky terrain takes us past triple and double arches, before arriving at the backside of Mouse's Tank. On our return trip, we will take a look at the petroglyphs found along the Mouse's Tank Trail.
We do not recommend children under 10 years of age on this hike. There is a 25-person limit for this hike. To register for this hike, email Rosa at rprasser@parks.nv.gov.
