Northern Nevada Bass Tournament at Lahontan State Recreation Area on Saturday, April 15 RESCHEDULED

The Lahontan Bass Tournament will take place on April 15th, 2023 out of North shore marina at Lahontan state recreation area. This event will be a fishing competition. Participating anglers will attempt to catch 5 black bass species, keep them alive by use of livewells on their boats, and bring them back to the marina for a live weigh in. After weigh-in anglers will take their fish back out onto the water and safely release the fish back into the reservoir.

Event registration will begin on April 14th appx. 3:00pm when tournament director and volunteer staff will accept pre-registrations at an announced location. All other registrations will be accepted on the morning of the event before Anglers launch their boats. Tournament director and volunteers will arrive at North shore marina appx. 4:00 am to inspect launching conditions, set up a sign up table and other needed tournament prerequisites, and begin accepting sign ups.   

At registration anglers will be required to fill out a sign-up sheet, a release waiver and provide proof of liability insurance.

This event is capped at 30 participating “teams” A team may consist of 1 or 2 anglers. All participants will be required to follow all Lahontan state recreation area rules and regulations, and pay daily park fees for parking, boating, ect. Any participant who has been found to be cited for any infraction to NDOW, Nevada state parks, or NNBT rules and regulation will be disqualified from the event.

Contestants and tournament staff will be using park amenities such as the North shore marinas launch ramp and boat dock, restrooms, and parking lot.

According to sunrise-sunset.org the first light for April 15th, 2023 will be at 5:49 am. Registration will be closed by 5:30am. After the registration period participating anglers will attend a mandatory safety/information meeting hosted by the tournament director. Anglers will have their boats launched and be waiting to blast off. At registration each team will be given a boat number. At “safe light” the tournament director will present the national anthem. After the national anthem, the director will start calling boat numbers. Respective boats will idle by the end of the dock in a single file order to have their livewells inspected and begin their day of fishing.

After all contestants have left the no wake zone, the director and staff will clean up everything used for sign ups and registration and use of North shore marina will be complete except for the parking lot.

Weigh-ins will begin at 3:00pm. Successful anglers will bag their limits of fish and bring them up to the director to be weighed. During weigh-in a biology/fish survey will be recorded for the use of NDOW to help monitor black bass health in Lahontan reservoir. Anglers will then take back their bags of fish and release them safely back into the water. Any fish that perished during the event are the angler's responsibility to harvest or dispose of.

After successfully weighing in all successful teams. Scales will be closed and prizes and awards will be presented. At which time this event will be concluded.
