Fort Churchill State Historic Park - Visitor Center

Come create a journal, using recycled materials, that captures your experience or memories of Fort Churchill. Find inspiration in the adobe ruins, the site's rich history, or its diversity of plant and animal life. This activity emphasizes creativity over writing. Supplies and instructions will be provided.

Need to Know

  • Registration required. Please email ksanderson@parks.nv.gov
  • Meet at the Fort Churchill Visitor Center.
  • Program content is intended for adults and children 14 years of age and older.
  • Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. Check the website for updates before you head out.

What to Bring

  • Your creativity – no artistic experience/skill required
  • Water
  • Insect repellent
  • Sun protection

What to Expect

  • A creative approach to storytelling, scrapbooking, and memory-keeping using recycled materials.
  • Make and take your own junk journal.
  • Outdoor setting with opportunities for questions and discussion.
  • Educational, volunteer-led experience.

Fees & Registration

  • Park entrance fee: $5.00 per vehicle with Nevada plates, $10.00 out-of-state
  • There is no additional cost for this program.
