First Day Hike
Start the year off by breathing the crisp, fresh air at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. Take in stunning views of the Red Rock Canyon Valley as the hike takes you up to Lake Harriet where the endangered Pahrump Pool Fish has found refuge. Two hikes around Lake Harriet will be offered. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. The trail is a mile and a half long on rocky unlevel surface with a 100-foot elevation gain.
Sturdy shoes are recommended, along with weather appropriate clothing, water, hat and sun protection. This hike is geared toward participants of all skill levels and ages.
WHAT: First Day Hikes
WHEN: January 1, 2023. The first hike starts at 9:30 AM. The second hike starts at 2:00 PM.
WHERE: Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, 6375 NV-159. Blue Diamond, Nevada 89004. Heading west on Charleston Blvd. Continue as it turns into State Highway 159, pass Red Rock Canyon and the park is on the right side of the road.
WHO: The event is open to the public
COST: Park Fee is waived for First Day Hike participants
