Advanced Off-trail Hike: Ram’s Head Loop - 2/22/25

WHEN: 8:30am-1pm on Saturday, February 22

WHAT: This is a 4.5 mile hike with 700 ft gain. The hike starts with an easy downhill trek along an old road before turning north down a very narrow and rugged canyon. The sandstone here and further on goes from white through various pastel colors. After a break there’s some uphill red rock scrambling to reach a colorful viewpoint. Soon the previous road is rejoined and it’s an uphill hike back to the trailhead.

** This off-trail hike is for experienced hikers ONLY. Approximate actual distances are given, but the nature of off-trail hiking in Valley of Fire means that the perceived distance is about twice the actual distance (i.e. a 4.5 mile hike ‘feels like’ an 9 mile hike.)
