Spring Is in the Air: Wildflower Identification Hike

Spring has arrived early at Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area, and the desert is beginning to bloom! Join park volunteers for a guided, educational wildflower identification hike and discover the colorful (and sometimes subtle) plants that thrive in this unique desert landscape. Perfect for beginners, nature lovers, and curious families, this leisurely walk offers a chance to slow down, learn something new, and experience the desert in bloom.

Date: Saturday, February 7 and Saturday, February 14
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area – meet in the north parking lot in the day-use area

Need to Know:

• Pets allowed on a 6-foot leash
• Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
• Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. Check the website for updates before you head out
• Meet in the north parking lot in the day-use area

What to Bring:

• Water
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Weather-appropriate clothing

What to Expect:

• Guided wildflower identification and plant education
• Easy-paced hike on desert trails
• Outdoor setting with opportunities for questions and discussion
• Educational, volunteer-led experience

Fees & Registration:

• No program fee
• Park entrance fee: $10 per vehicle with Nevada plates, $15 out of state
• Drop-in welcome; no registration required
