About the Presenter: Tim De Berardinis is a retired Southern Nevada first responder with more than 30 years of experience in structural and wildland firefighting, emergency medicine, and search and rescue operations. He is also an active hiker, outdoor enthusiast, and commercial pilot, giving him a unique perspective on situational awareness and preparedness in remote environments.

Many visitors are prepared for their hikes to go well, but do you know what to do when things go wrong? Or how to prevent problems in the first place? Out here, we've seen it all! A 'short' one-mile hike that turns into a multi-hour search after someone makes a wrong turn, "It's not bad- it's a dry heat!" becoming a carry-out situation after a hiker collapses from dehydration, and simple mishaps that, while not life-threatening, could have been easily avoided with a little more awareness and preparedness.
After this presentation you may feel like you've hit the jackpot- not because of luck, but because you'll leave better prepared to safely enjoy the desert.
