Portico Profiles: Military Medicine at Fort Churchill

Fort Churchill State Historic Park

Join Park Interpreter, Kristin Sanderson, under the museum portico for a closer look at specific aspects of Fort Churchill’s history. Program topics change monthly.

19th century forts, like Fort Churchill, were originally established to secure the western frontier, but the U.S. Army also provided the region’s first organized medical care with trained physicians and hospitals.

WHEN: Saturday, June 22, 2024, 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

WHERE: Meet at the Fort Churchill Museum. Fort Churchill is located 8 miles south of the Highway 95A/Highway 50 intersection on Highway 95A at 10000 Highway 95A, Silver Springs, NV 89429.

WHO: The program is open to the public and hosted by Fort Churchill State Historic Park.

COST: Park entrance fees apply, $5.00 per vehicle ($10.00 for non-Nevada vehicles). There is no additional cost to participate in the program.
