America 250 Volunteer Project - Flying M Ranch Workday

Walker River State Recreation Area

Be part of a featured America 250 Nevada Gives service project at the historic Flying M Ranch, within Walker River State Recreation Area. Volunteers will assist park staff with a unique safety and stewardship project focused on installing fencing and habitat restoration. This hands-on experience is ideal for adults and families with older children who enjoy meaningful outdoor work, learning about land management, and contributing to a project with visible, lasting impact. The day includes lunch at the historic Flying M Ranch and a private tour of the property, making this a one-of-a-kind volunteer opportunity.

Date: Saturday, February 7
Time: Begins at 9:30 a.m.
Location: Given after registration

Need to Know

  • Pets not allowed
  • Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
  • Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice; check the website for updates
  • Meet-up location will be shared with registered volunteers

What to Bring

  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing

What to Expect

  • Fence building, vegetation removal, and possible trail work
  • Outdoor work on mostly flat terrain
  • Moderate physical activity with hands-on tasks
  • Lunch and private ranch tour included
