Advanced Off-Trail Hike - March 2026

Valley of Fire State Park

Join us for an advanced off-trail hike! Reservations Required.

We'll begin with a sandy trek to a steep scramble up the mesa. From there, we travel down through increasingly narrow zig-zagging canyons to the drop slot**. Navigating the drop-slot involves wedging yourself into a narrow canyon and slowly sliding down rock walls to the ground. Once everyone is through, the hike goes north to a beautiful landscape of colorful pinnacles for a break. We finish with a sandy slog back to our vehicles.

Read the details below, then email the names of everyone in your party to kwolfe@parks.nv.gov to reserve your spot! Space is limited!

**If there is water in the canyons, an alternate hike to Duck Rock/Petroglyphs will be done.
