WHEN: 8:30-11am on Saturday, October 21

WHAT: AARP Loop (Arches, Arches, Rocks and Petroglyphs)
This hike is only about 2.5 miles and 410 feet of gross gain, but has significant hiking in sand with no shade.  The route is out at the easternmost part of the park on the north side of St. Thomas Wash.  We will first visit two petroglyph panels and then about a dozen arches including the huge El Portal arch.

WHERE: Meetup location will be sent via email when your reservation is confirmed.

** The advanced off-trail hikes are is over difficult, rough terrain, sometimes with deep, soft sand, sometimes up steep, solid rock where hands may be required, and sometimes scrambling up or down boulder sized rocks.

** This off-trail hike is for experienced hikers ONLY. Approximate actual distances are given, but the nature of off-trail hiking in Valley of Fire means that the perceived distance is about twice the actual distance (i.e. a 2.5 mile hike ‘feels like’ a 5 mile hike.)

** You will get tired!
