Advanced Off-Trail Hike
To reserve your spot, please read all the details below, then email the names of people in your party to kwolfe@parks.nv.gov
Join us on a guided advanced off-trail hike to the largest mesa that can be seen at the eastern edge of the park! The approach brings amazing views of purple, red, pink, and white pinnacles at its base. We'll overlook the silica sand mining operation before going down to the remains of the Buena Vista Campground built in the 1930s.
Date: Saturday, February 14
Time: 8:30am-2:30pm (Reservation Required)
Location: Valley of Fire State Park. Meetup location will be sent in confirmation email.
Need to Know:
- This is a 5.5 mile, 800ft gain, advanced off-trail hike.
- Approximate distances and elevation gain are given, but the nature of hiking in Valley of Fire means the perceived distance is about twice the actual distance. (i.e. a 5.5 mile hike feels like an 11 mile hike!)
- Our advanced off-trail hikes are over difficult, rough terrain, sometimes with deep, soft sand, sometimes up steep, solid rock where hands may be required, and sometimes scrambling up or down boulder sized rocks.
- These hikes are for experienced hikers only.
- Pets are not permitted.
- Participants must be at least 10 years of age.
- Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. Check your email for updates before you head out.
