South Fork Canyon Hike

South Fork State Recreation Area

Join Humboldt Highroads, the Bureau of Land Management and Nevada State Parks on a guided historical hike in the South Fork Canyon. Beginning at the South Fork Dam, hikers will be guided along the historic trail located at the end of the Hasting Cutoff. This four-mile hike will include discussions on the unique history of the Canyon. Please be prepared for a small creek crossing by wearing sturdy hiking shoes. Bring water, sunscreen, flashlight and a hat. This hike will last approximately two hours.          

WHEN: Sunday, September 24. Meet at the Overlook parking lot at 4:30 p.m., the hike will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. 
WHERE: South Fork State Recreation Area, take Highway 228 from Spring Creek, take a right on Lower South Fork Road, and a right on Park Road.  Drive to the end of the park road and park in the Overlook parking lot. 
COST:  Entrance fee is waived for event participants.
