Intro to Fly Fishing

Walker River State Recreation Area

Come join Park Rangers at the Walker River State Recreation Area for a special presentation on fly fishing on the East Walker River. Fly fishing has a special appeal to people of all ages and is a great way to get outside and connect with nature. Come learn about the basics of fly-fishing including fly casting, entomology, knots and leader construction, fly selection, fishing etiquette and the proper approach to catching/releasing fish. This presentation will be geared toward beginners, so no previous fly fishing knowledge is necessary. All equipment and materials will be provided and participants will be able to fly fish on the river at the end of the presentation! A valid Nevada fishing license is required for the program. Feel free to bring any additional fly fishing gear you may have.

To abide by the Governor’s social distancing mandate, please call (775-463-1609) or email (djwassmund@parks.nv.gov) the office to sign up. Space is limited so be sure to reserve a spot ASAP!
