First Day Hikes

Valley of Fire State Park

Start the year off with beautiful hikes at Valley of Fire State Park. These are guided hikes at multiple locations in the park throughout the day.

No reservation required. Park entrance fees are waived for participants. 

WHEN: Sunday, January 1, 2023 

 

WHERE:  Valley of Fire State Park, Overton, Nevada (an hour northeast of Las Vegas). Exact locations are below; Map can be found here: http://parks.nv.gov/forms/Valley_of_Fire_Map_1_SE_HWY_162_NET_otln_reduced_2014-02-10.pdf . 

9:00am - Mouse's Tank and Fire Canyon Combo: Advanced Hike. 3 miles, approximately 2hrs. Meet at Mouse's Tank Trailhead.

10:00am - Rainbow Vista to Fire Canyon Overlook: Moderate. 3 miles, approximately 1.5hrs. Meet at the Rainbow Vista Trailhead.

10:30am - White Domes Loop: Easy. 1.5 miles, approximately 1.5hrs. Meet at White Domes Loop Trailhead.

11:00am - Duck Rock Petroglyph Rock Loop: Moderate. 3 miles, approximately 2hrs. Meet at the gate to Duck Rock Road. (On the map (see link above), it is the northernmost curve of the road before the White Domes Loop; ONLY park in the pullouts by the gate.)

12:30pm - Mouse's Tank Family Hike: Easy. 1 mile, approximately 1hr. Meet at Mouse's Tank Trailhead.

12:30pm - Silica Dome Peak: Advanced Hike- Steep uphill. 2 miles, approximately 1.5hrs. Meet at Fire Canyon Overlook Roundabout.
