Day of Service

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service at Walker River State Recreation Area on Saturday, January 22, 2022

Yerington, Nevada – Join park staff for a service day project in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Walker River State Recreation Area. On this service day we will be enhancing the Cabin sites at Pitchfork unit by planting trees and shrubs for wildlife enhancement and aesthetics. A Dutch Oven demonstration will also be offered.    

WHAT: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Public Service Day

WHEN: Saturday, January 22, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm 

WHERE: Meet at Walker River State Recreation Area, Pitchfork Visitor Center.  Located at 211 East Walker Rd., Yerington, NV 89447 (775) 463-1609.

WHO: This event is open to the public. This event will be held outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather.  Work gloves and sturdy footwear is recommended. The park will provide hand tools.

COST:  Park entrance fees will be waived for participants the day of the event.
