Snowshoe Hike

South Fork State Recreation Area

Discover South Fork by moonlight at the first community snowshoe hike of 2018. Come prepared for fun in the outdoors: dress warmly in layers, wear waterproof hiking boots, bring a headlamp or flashlight and trekking poles. If there is no snow, we will still conduct a winter hike on the trails at the meadows. The event will start at 6 p.m. and last approximately two hours. Snowshoes will be available for participants to use at no charge; please call the BLM Elko District office at 775-753-0200 to reserve a pair of snow shoes, or bring your own equipment. After the hike, free snacks and hot chocolate will be served around a warm campfire.

WHEN: Saturday, January 6, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

WHERE: South Fork State Recreation Area Meadows Parking Area. Head south of Highway 228 from Spring Creek, after 5 miles turn right on Lower South Fork Road. Continue south on Lower South Fork Road for approximately 6 miles, the trailhead will be located on your right. The road will be signed for the event from the East Entrance to the Trailhead.
