October Events at Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort

Although now a world famous city, Las Vegas began in 1855 with a humble adobe fort along a creek.  First settled by Mormon pioneers from Utah, the site later became the center of one of the most important ranches in southern Nevada.  Now a state park, the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort preserves and interprets the birthplace of Las Vegas. Join park rangers for one of our many unique Saturday programs and learn about Las Vegas’ pioneer heritage.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration – Native Americans played an essential role in the Old Fort’s history, and we are going to be celebrating this unique and vibrant heritage.  Come observe Native American dancers demonstrate their indigenous resilience through cultural presentations.  Frybread will also be available for sale.

NEVADAWEEN – Join us for this annual event that celebrates two of our favorite things: Nevada’s birthday as a state and Halloween.  This family-friendly event will feature a haunted house, pumpkin painting, children’s games, a costume contest, the DUP annual soup cook-off, raffle prizes, and much more!
