WHAT: Geminids Meteor Shower Viewing
Join us and the Las Vegas Astronomical Society at the Fire Wave and Duck Rock Trail to view the Geminids Meteor Shower! Weather permitting, we're expecting to see up to 120 meteors per hour. Guests can stargaze on their own on the Fire Wave Trail or with the Astronomical Society, who will be here with their telescopes, at the end of Duck Rock Road.

Fire Wave: 1.5 mile out-and-back hike over loose sand,
Duck Rock: 1.4 mile out-and-back hike over paved road and dirt road

WHEN: Wednesday, December 14
6:00 - 10:00pm
You must be in your vehicle, ready to exit the parking area, by 10pm at the LATEST.
Hiking out-and-back to Fire Wave takes ~1hr,
Hiking out-and-back to the end of Duck Rock Road takes ~30min

WHERE: Fire Wave and Duck Rock at Valley of Fire
*Drive 4.5 miles North of the Visitor Center to arrive at "P3," the Fire Wave Trailhead*

PARKING: Park smart! We're expecting the lot to be quite full and we want to make sure there is space for everyone who wants to attend. Carpool with your friends if possible.

BRING: Close-toed shoes, water, and a red light. (Using a red light helps you keep your night vision and is less bothersome to other guests) Bring fold-out chairs or a blanket if you'd like to sit and observe the sky.

COST:
- $10 for NV Residents per vehicle,
- $15 for Out of State Guests per vehicle.
(If you have a NEVADA STATE PARKS Annual Pass or a receipt from entry to the park earlier on the same day you do not have to pay the above fee!)
