Feeding an Army

Fort Churchill State Historic Park

Since its inception in 1775, the United States military has been responsible for feeding its troops. Numerous challenges, including the procurement and transportation of food, dangerous or tough operating conditions in the field, changing standards of quality and nutrition, and discerning palates, have not made this an easy task. Come learn about a soldier’s diet at Fort Churchill and sample a few of their staples (while supplies last).
