Nevada State Park’s Wood Permit Sale Saturday, September 14

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Nevada Division of State Parks has a small amount of firewood available.  Approximately 50 permits will go on sale Saturday, September 14.

The sale starts at 8 a.m. on the 1st floor of the Richard H. Bryan state office building, located at 901 South Stewart Street in Carson City. Permits are $50 per cord, cash or check only, limit one cord per address/family. The sale will end once all permits are sold.

The pick-up schedule will run from Friday, September 20 through Sunday, September 22. The pick-up location is in the North Canyon area near Spooner Lake.

The wood is a mixture of pine and fir, some seasoned and some green. Most of the wood is approximately 18 inches, although some odd sized and large rounds are possible.

Access into North Canyon requires navigation through areas of loose, sandy soils. Four-wheel drive or heavy duty two-wheel drive vehicles are strongly recommended. Trailers may be permitted at the discretion of State Park’s personnel. Trailers deemed unsafe by park staff must be left at the staging area.

The Nevada Division of State Parks plans, develops and maintains a system of parks and recreation areas for the use and enjoyment of more than 3.3 million visitors a year. The division was established in 1963 by the Nevada Legislature to form a new state park agency within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The division manages and maintains 23 parks, historic sites and recreation areas in Nevada.
