Trout Derby at Wild Horse State Recreation Area on Saturday and Sunday February 16 and 17

ELKO Nev. – The annual Wild Horse Trout derby continues this year on February 16 and 17. Fun for the whole family includes ice fishing, sledding, and ice skating. Cash prizes will be given for the longest trout each day. Numerous other prizes can also be won. Registration is $10.00 cash; used for cash prizes. Pulled pork and sloppy Joe sandwiches, hot drinks, and bait and tackle will be available at the main lake access. All regular park fees still apply.
WHAT: Annual Wild Horse Trout Derby
WHEN: Saturday and Sunday, February 16 and 17 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WHERE: Wild Horse State Recreation Area located 67 miles North of Elko on State Route 225
WHO: The event is open to the public and is sponsored by Nevada State Parks and the Wild Horse property owners.
COST: The registration fee is $10.00 cash per person for each day. The park per vehicle entrance fee is $7 and camping fees are $12; Nevada residents receive a $2 discount.
