February 3:  Searching for the Mystic Bat Woman

Explore the possible meanings of the Mystic Bat Woman.  Start your adventure with a short PowerPoint presentation at the Visitor Center and then continue your adventure by caravanning to Mouse’s Tank trail.

February 9: Finding Rock Art  

Petroglyphs are found all around the world, including at Valley of Fire State Park.  Learn how to look, where to look, and what to look for on your hunt for petroglyphs.

 February 9: Guided Petroglyph Tour

Learn about the petroglyphs found in this area as a park staff takes you on a short walk to hidden panels of petroglyphs.

 February 10: Guided Petrified Forest Tour

Explore the fenced-off area behind the petrified logs.  While exploring this undisturbed area, you will learn about different plant life, geology, and the petrification process.           

               WHEN: Sunday, February 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Learn about breeding and eating habits, range, what to look for in the wild and track identification of desert bighorn sheep.  Also identify the difficulties the bighorn sheep face surviving in the desert.

February 17: Fire Wave Guided Hike

Join a ranger on a guided hike to the world famous fire wave. Along the way learn about all the flora and fauna, wildlife, and geology the area has to offer.  Please bring appropriate footwear, sunscreen, sunglasses and water.                                        WHEN: Sunday, February 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

What would you do if you were stuck out in the desert with no water, no food, and no sign of help?  Join a park ranger to learn some basic skills for survive in the desert.

Join a park ranger on a 4.5 mile moderately difficult guided hike on the Pinnacles Loop Trail.  Along the way you will learn about the geology, flora, fauna, and sensitive desert ecosystem.  Feel free to bring your lunch.
