Fall Programs at Fort Churchill State Historic Park

Buckland 150x150 Fall Programs at Fort Churchill State Historic ParkSilver Springs, Nev. – Fort Churchill State Historic Park welcomes the public to our fall programs, which include a Halloween Safe House and Trick-or-Treating at Buckland Station, and a basic astronomy program.

 In October, Buckland Station will be open Friday-Sunday and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact the park for tours of Buckland Station from November through February. Entry to the park is $7 per vehicle with a $2 discount for Nevada residents. Entrance to Buckland Station is $1 per person; children 12 and under are free.  October 27: Halloween Safe House and Trick-or-Treating

This will be a fun-filled evening for the kids. The event is free, but children MUST be in costume to participate! Join us for trick-or-treating and Halloween cartoons!

               WHEN: Saturday, October 27 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
               WHERE: Buckland Station. Fort Churchill State Historic Park is located 8 miles south of Silver Springs, NV. Buckland Station is ½ mile south of the park’s main entrance. Stay on Highway 95A, cross the railroad tracks and Buckland Station is the 3-story ranch house on the left.

 November 5: The Night Sky

This basic astronomy program is for those who enjoy the night sky. The park ranger will describe what you can see in the night sky with the naked eye or using your binoculars. There will not be any telescopes, but participants are welcome to bring their own. Please do not bring white flashlights. Red lights are recommended, as they do not affect night vision. A piece of red felt or plastic may be placed over the lens a flashlight to make a red light.

               WHEN: Wednesday, November 5 at 6 p.m.
               WHERE: Meet at the cemetery parking lot. Fort Churchill is located approximately eight miles south of Silver Springs, NV on Highway 95A. Turn onto Fort Churchill Road and follow the signs into the park.
