All programs are free of charge, but entrance into the park is $10.00 per vehicle; Nevadaresidents receive a $2.00 discount. October 6 and 7: Leave No Trace Trainer Course

This program promotes skills and ethics to support the sustainable use of wild lands and natural areas. This is a two-day course with one night of camping. After completing the course, you will become a Leave No Trace Trainer, and will receive a certificate from the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics inBoulder,Colorado. A minimum of five participants is required; the course can only take a maximum of 15 participants, and reservations must be made no later than September 28, 2012.

October 13: Petroglyph Puzzle

Come join one of our park rangers to learn the what, who, when, where, why and how of Mojave Desertrock art.

October 14: Guided Arrowhead Trail Loop Hike

Hike with a ranger around Arrowhead Loop and end up at Elephant Rock. Along the way, learn all about the geology and history of the area. Please bring a camera, appropriate footwear, sun screen, sunglasses and plenty of water.

October 20: Cap ’N Dave’s “Ice Age Critters”

Las Vegasis known for slot machines, showgirls, neon lights and Elvis, but it’s not typically thought to be a site of Ice Age animals! In this lecture, Cap ‘N Dave will discuss many of the major Ice Age animals from North America and Eurasia. If you’d like to know about the 13-foot tall elephant that used to live in your back yard, come join us!

October 21: Where is Natural Arch?

Join a ranger on this two-mile moderate round trip hike where Natural Arch used to be. Bring a snack to eat once we reach the arch and partake in a question and answer session. Be sure to wear suitable footwear for this hike. Also be sure to carry along plenty of water. This hike should take about 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes.

October 27: 11th Annual Halloween Jubilee

Kids of all ages join the celebration of Halloween. Dress up in your Halloween costume (not required), and play ghoulish games like ring the grave, ghost bowling and pin the nose on the pumpkin for candy prizes.
