GENOA,Nev.– Free stargazing party at Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa on Saturday, July 21. Members of the Astronomical Society of Nevada will provide high-powered professional telescopes. The program will begin with a presentation followed by a question and answer session starting at 7:30 p.m. Telescope viewing will begin around 8:30 p.m. and last until 10:30 p.m.
Bring the family to discover Saturn, a double-double star, a Super Nova, the summer triangle, several galaxies, and more. This is a perfect opportunity for an evening picnic. Bring a blanket and a lawn chair. Please leave pets at home.
WHEN: Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
WHERE: Meet behind the park office just offKinsey Way andFoothill Road. Mormon Station State Historic Park, in Genoa, is a 20 minute drive from Carson City, via U.S Highway 395, and 20 minutes from South Lake Tahoe, via state Route 207 and Foothill Road. Genoa is approximately a one hour drive south ofReno via U.S. Highway 395.
WHO: This event is open to the public. Please leave pets at home.
