Volunteers needed for planting in the wetlands at Washoe Lake State Park Nov. 13

CARSON CITY, Nev. – As part of ongoing efforts to control noxious weeds in Washoe Lake State Park’s wetlands, the Washoe-Pleasant Valley Cooperative Weed Management group and Nevada State Parks is inviting people of all ages to spend a morning planting native plants.
These plants will help increase diversity, improve habitat and compete against noxious weeds. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers. RSVP by November 12 to Robin Powell at 775-247-2798 or rpowell@audubon.org.
WHAT: Washoe wetlands volunteer planting day
WHEN: Saturday, November 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
WHERE: Washoe Lake State Park, at the wetlands viewing deck located off of Highway 395, exit 44 on the south side of Washoe Lake.
WHO: The event is open to the public. The Washoe-Pleasant Valley Cooperative Weed Management group, Audubon TogetherGreen and Nevada State Parks are hosting this event.
COST: Free lunch is provided for all volunteers.
